Mattel’s iconic doll is getting her very own movie, and fans are excited about it. It’s directed by Greta Gerwig, who brought us Lady Bird and Little Women, and stars Margot Robbie as Barbie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Oscar-winning actress and her co-star Ryan Gosling will play Barbie and Ken in the movie. The Birds of Prey star said the film will “give audiences something they didn’t know they wanted” and will respect the doll\u2019s rich history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also serves as a producer on the project through her production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, along with Mattel’s Josey McNamara and Heyday Films’ Ynon Kreiz. Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird) and Noah Baumbach (Frances Ha, Marriage Story) will write the screenplay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The cast includes Issa Rae (Insecure) as President Barbie, Hari Nef (And Just Like That…) as a Scientist Barbie, Emma Mackey (Sex Education) as Doctor Barbie and Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman) as Midge. Filming is taking place at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
